The Barnes Village Development

Breathing New Life Into Barnes Hospital With Renowned Local Decorating Firm

If you have been resident in the area for some time, you will have been unable to miss the 1870’s brick built Barnes Hospital, Cheadle, towering over the surroundings. First built away from the centre of the then industrial Manchester, it was named after Robert Barnes, who donated £26,000 in 1869 to finance the construction of the Gothic building. The Barnes Convalescent Home has a colourful history including housing of injured soldiers during World War II and remains a landmark for the area, adjacent to the A34 Kingsway, near to Stockport. Closing the doors in 1999, the former geriatric hospital has now fallen into a state of disrepair, and, as a stunning Grade II listed building has been calling out for an investor to take hold.

The highly reputable property development firm Henley Homes have identified the amazing potential of the area and acquired the property with a view to creating Barnes Village, a beautiful landscaped and modern development combined with the elegance of the old French Gothic Revival style.  The overall project will encompass 155 new spacious, modern townhouses surrounding the original hospital building, which will be refurbished as luxury apartments, offering views across landscaped grounds as well as their own private gardens.

Naturally, for a project of such high specifications, Henley Homes needed to appoint a painting and decorating contractor that they could entrust with their needs. SD Painting Contractors, Based in Manchester, says: “We are privileged to be working with Henley Homes to deliver the decorating requirements for the new Barnes Village development.
